Rolf's German Restaurant

Rolf's has been a German restaurant on Third Avenue since 1968, but the Christmas decorations installed each October are the real reason people line up outside. Five artists spend roughly three months hanging more than 15,000 ornaments and 200,000 lights, many of them vintage antiques evoking a Victorian atmosphere. The display stays up through March, making Rolf's less a seasonal novelty than a months-long institution.
